Why is America letting China pirate their videos and make money off of them on the streets of China.?
Everyday, numbers of Chinese people bring video cameras into movie theaters and record American, Foreign, and Chinese movies illegally. Everyday, numbers of Chinese people go onto Chinese websites and download full American movies and movies from around the world for free and sell them on the streets of China. Everyday, numbers of people in China, make big profits off of Americans naivety. Why does America let this happen. What no one knows about shopping in China. Nothing in a Chinese store costs more than twenty yuan. You have to bargain with people in Chinese. Do not apologize to people after arguing with them about a price. They will think you are weak, if you act all sweet and nice to them. Nothing + in a foreign area should cost more than twenty yuan. I don't care how nice it is, they can live off of 200 yuan per year. That is 24 American dollars. So, when they say 500 yuan for a blanket, you think to yourself, would I pay 10,000 dollars for a blanket? So, why does America let this happen? I had to protect Americans there, because I know they work very hard for their salaries and their money. Why just throw your money away, when Chinese people would never do that? What I actually think is that it is trickery. "Hi, I'm so poor, look at my clothes. Look at my kids." What I learned from the Chinese people is that it is an act. You can't play like you are poor, if you are wearing nice clothes. They save their money and get more and save it up, and so on. They told me not to believe the act. The people on the streets with the children are people who had kidnapped a child from a family (who was really too poor to have a lock on their door) and threatened the parents. It's an act. Ummm... They bargain with people. That is how they can live on 200 yuan per year. They can buy a pack of oranges for five cents from their neighbors. They can put their kids through school with 10 yuan, if they know somebody who wants ten yuan. They have their ways of living comfortably off of 200 yuan per year. It's not America where prices are set. Everything can be free for a person, if they know the right contacts. It's not America.

Hi, Contrary to the movies and all, Americas laws stay in the confines of America. They have no powers of enforcement outside their own jurisdictions. As for the Chinese themselves, they cannot afford to work two weeks to pay for one DVD movie so there is the temptation. Also the US government must watch for pirated videos coming in and send agents to the ethnic grocery stores and flea markets to make big seizures here. Cheers, Michael Kelly

Now you understand how life would be under Obama or Clinton. This is known as socialism. The government sets your wages and the prices. Everyone is equally miserable because you are not allowed to make more money than your neighbor. If you are not happy with your lousy medical care that is provided by the government by doctors who don't make any more money than you do...you'll have to pay a fortune to get better care. Socialism fails every time it's tried. Although there are laws against copyright infringement, no policeman is going to arrest anyone for doing it. This is a matter for the individual being wronged to sue the individual(s) who are doing the pirating. This would indeed be difficult to do. Society must either accept these people in their midst or run them out.

You can ask the same question about Western countries: I live in Australia. Most of the people I know (regardless of their race) download everything from software to games to music from the internet. I am sure it's the same in other countries. You could therefore ask why Western governments allow their citizens to do this. But of course the fact is never that simple. The unfortunate thing is that, in the West people are brought up to believe that China is a totalitarian country where the government controls everything in your life. And therefore anything bad that happens is because of the government. But in fact, the reality on the ground is so different from that picture. (In fact if Beijing was in control of people's lives the way the Western media portrays, China would be an unimaginably powerful country today, and all the problems with toys and so on would not have existed in the first place).

Would this work? Buy discounted goods (anything) from the chines, and then find a chinese buyer for that same product and re-sell them back to the chinese at a higher cost (their economy is surging) , and then pocket the difference? Sound doable??

purses! china makes a bunch of knock off purses. they sell for around 20 dollars and you can sell them for double that or more because they look like really gucci, dolce and gabbana, and all those name brands. some even have those symbols on them making them look "authentic" and only you no that they are fakes. look on ebay. i just got a really beautiful d&g purse for 20 dollars. i received it and it says d&g on the side and looks so real. i bought it for personal use but im sure i could sell it for a hundred at least if i decided to! i hope this helps

Why didn't our government handle the stimulus money the same way? China did not bail out banks and give it to corporations to waste. They built roads, airports, made major infrastructure changes. Created thousands of jobs. It worked great! Are we always destined to follow the bad examples in history instead of paying attention to processes that have worked and really making a change for the better?

Is it possible for a foreign musician like myself to make money selling music in China?
Is it possible for a foreign musician like myself to make money selling music in China?
I plan to go to China to study abroad but I will take my guitar and possibly my home studio recording equipment along with me. Will people notice me more or less because I'm a foreigner and is it possible to get known and sell music in China? If anyone has had experience doing this...please let me know how it went.

I'm pretty sure they don't send one item at a time. If a lot of people buy it.....they might ship 1000 of the same item at once, or different items in the same shipment. Just enough so that postage costs become insignificant.

It depends on where you'll be teaching. Most of the time, you make enough to be able to live there, but little in savings. Usually people go abroad and teach for experience. I'm also thinking about it, but not for the teaching experience but for cultural experience. No you don't need to speak any chinese to teach, but knowing survival chinese may be beneficial for you. They'll probable put you into a class that understand english, but needs to improve it.

its true..because many countries did not courage their people to speak or learn in English..The country likes China which have largest regions and many language..mandarin and many more..I think if you teaching English in high educated region like Beijing..they have many people which are rich peoples and they want their children to have good communication in English..even all people know about the international language is English..therefore there is a good opportunity to them if they know the language..as conclusion, we can make money there if we have a good spot to open the English classes or tuition maybe..

I'm teaching English in Guangzhou, China now. So does my friend. She took The TESL course in the USA. The school she went to found her a job. So She went to China. She got into a 1 year contract with the school and after 3 months she "ESCAPED". It was not easy. And the people she escaped from were not happy. She was working up to 40 hours and more. But her days were 10 hours long. You only get paid for the time you teach. You can get paid for only 20-30 hours teaching and work 40 hours. After a break She then started to teach independently. My first time in China I went for 6 months. 2 weeks in China and My Friend tells me she can't teach a class and would I do it? I have never taught an English class and I never took the TESL course. Long story short... I did the class and before you know it I was teaching other classes and doing private tutoring. Making $21-$35 US Dollars per hour. To teach at a institute or an ENGLISH SCHOOL you will need a certificate. Or a BA. They may assist you at the school. If you take your TESL class in the USA the school will be able to place you. But you should know the pay is very low. Or what I think is low. Could be around 8000 Yuan per month. They will most likely give you a place to stay (2000-2500 YUAN) and a work Visa. Some help with airfare. You can live on this. It should not be a problem. But if you enjoy your freedom you would benefit from independent teaching. People will pay you to sit in Starbucks and just talk with them for an hour. Or to teach at you home. I was told by the other 2 full time teachers at this school that what I get paid is more than what they get paid over all for being full time. Yes, they get an apartment paid for them and help with a visa. But they have to be at the school for 40 hours a week. They work from 1pm to 9pm. Since this school is for adults those hours our more conducive to the adult life style. I have written this answer a few times on YAHOO. I have 'Helped" a few people. 2 Australians contacted me some 10 months ago on YAHOO Q and A and are now in Guangzhou teaching 15-20 hours a week making 10,000/rmb and up. Can China do this just like how banks create money out of thin air via debt? Assuming the US pays back the debt, China will be richer. But, if US defaulted, it doesn't matter to China because they just conjured up the money in the first place.

The special economic zone was set up by Uganda in recognition that private enterprise requires a number of laws and rules be in place to protect the rights of investors so that they are willing to invest. Often countries that are not yet ready to implement laws across the entire country that are sufficient to encourage private investment, are willing to do so in a designated zone. The fact that China gets legislative rights in the zone (something I am not aware of) would mean that China gets to implement the specific laws that they find most conducive to doing business, so I think that we can assume that the laws will be favorable in many regards. Even if Uganda retained a taxing authority outside the legislative rights, perhaps by veto rights, it would be great for China to be able to set up a system of laws and an enforcement mechanism that it was familiar with and felt was appropriate for optimizing their investments in the region.

Small bussiness, its getting too repressive...yea, higher taxes in europe, but I can spend under 6 months making money there without being tax resident (4 months for US), and then travel to other places in luxury hotels and it would probably cost me the same as the faggy 35% taxes in the states. Dubai, China, France...all trying to attract producers....not repressive to private life to those foreigners..don't give a fuck, you supply them a steady stream of productivity, why the hell should they care. yes they are one and the same. i believe it is the chinese government that has labeled it the peoples republic to give the country more credibility on the world political stage.

People's Republic Of China is the official name of China. So the answer to your question is yes, both are same country. Republic of China is the official name of Taiwan.

Same thing, just like HK SAR (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) is the same as Hong Kong

PRC is China. The Republic of China is Taiwan. In doubt, wire the money to my swiss bank account and I'll take care of everything....Trust me, I'm a top contributor... ;)

Republic of China is Taiwan, that's how they call themself. People's Republic of China is the big China. They are supposed to be one, but Taiwan is trying to become a country. ANyway, Taiwan the country does not exist officially, so their is only one China.
