How Many Of You Americans Here On Yahoo Make More Money In 1 Month Than Most Chinese People Make In 1 Year?
I read that the average worker in China only makes the equivalent of three thousand seven hundred dollars a year. $3,700 a year.

I would qualify for that.
2 :
Mmm...not one month, but two. No wonder all the crap from China is so inexpensive. Their factory workers are practically slaves.
3 :
me. But my cost of living is higher.
4 :
I don't
5 :
I do but I'll also bet that my bills are much higher. It's all relative.
6 :
Yeah but how much money do you need when the most desired possession is 6 square feet of personal space?
7 :
Most of the world makes more than that. so what.
8 :
5 times. Yeah we should definately emulate the Chinese.
9 :
lol, month.
10 :
And the Saudi Arabians makes the average middle class american citizen look like beggars. Now is that the Saudis fault? Neither should the Americans have to have a justifiable answer as to how China treats their own citizens. If they want them to live on poverty row, that is China's business.
11 :
... Now that the Republicans have taken over the House, we'll all be working for those wages soon.
12 :
Yes, America has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Your point? China isnt even the worst. They are lucky they are even being payed. Many industrial nations use slave labor and children in their factories. How do you think America gets such cheap products? In fact, there is a 98% chance the very clothes you are wearing right now were made by slaves. There are more slaves today than there have ever been in the entire history of the human race. That is a little-known fact.
13 :
That is just about what I make.
14 :
My family {My father, Mother, and two Sisters} makes about 20,000 dollars a year in the U.S., and we do not have a lot of money. Our cost of living is much higher here. A person may be able to get by on 3,700 a year in China, if you're telling the truth, as you have no source to back up this statement. Also, guess who's exploiting those factory workers. American Corporations. You know, the same ones that shipped the jobs away and made us as poor as we are now, because the workers had enough "nerve" to ask for decent pay so they wouldn't be exploited like the Chinese, who themselves are asking for better pay now. Maybe that's why you see "made in Indonesia" so frequently now a days.
15 :
thats more than i make....... unemployed... $0.
16 :
how many chinese pay a fraction of what we on yahoo pay for basic goods and services?

What's the best way to make money selling your original paintings?
What's the best way to make money selling your original paintings?
I've done some paintings, and I've been thinking how should I make the best out of my work? E-bay sounds easy, but there are so many cheap works from China and stuff, that I feel I won't get my money back. I usually put at least couple days working on a painting, with so much attention to detail, hours and hours...but I feel I can't compete with these guys who sell their stuff for 30 bucks on e-bay. Please advise me!!!!

Get your art displayed in a legitimate art gallery.
2 :
Try Amazon. Don't be afraid to list your asking price higher than china products. If your work is that good, its worth the dollar.

Do what my ex wife did, she went to local restaurants and asked them if she could put them around their restaurant so people could see them and possibly buy them and she would give them 10 percent of whatever she sold them for and she also left her cards with the restaurant. She did OK with it also.

Getting your name out there any way you can is the most important thing you can do! Get on etsy.com and promote yourself through the forums and by meeting other members. Start a blog that features your work; it's a great way to begin building a website for free. Look for open calls for art shows, send your work out to galleries, and try to develop relationships with restaurants, coffee shops, dr offices, and other places that might be willing to display your work. Being an artist is extremely difficult and very few people are able to support themselves this way. If you love making work, then any sales are just the icing on the cake. It takes a ton of work and a long time to build an art career and there is no one magic bullet that will help you sell your work. Try out different forums and see what works best, then funnel most of your efforts in that direction. Good luck! Rose http://www.rosebriccetti.com http://effartblog.blogspot.com

Selling directly to a client/collector is the best way for an artist to make money because there is no "middle man," or consignment gallery who takes a percentage of your earnings. When selling direct, you earn 100% of the profits. Several ways for an individual artist to sell paintings directly are from home or studio, outdoor festivals & community events, tourist office, doctors waiting room, local non-chain coffee shops, and from your own artist/business website. Going it alone is not the only option when selling, you can also join up with other artists who share your style and beliefs and form an art collective together. When joining or forming a collective, the artists of the group equally split rent on a single store front, making it cheaper for each artist to market their paintings directly. It is like how musical artists join in a band for the benefit of each other. Harmony is important and it can be achieved by having artists who work in different mediums, like sculpture, painting, textiles, but all in the same style of art/music. If you exhibit your artwork in a public art gallery, sometimes they will let you sell directly from the gallery. You can also have group exhibitions at a public art gallery, which can work like a collective. Including additional items to an original painting can also help you sell. A statement or short bio, material list for art conservators, a photo of you with the artwork and where else it has been displayed, are all items you can include with a painting to add value and influence people to buy. People usually buy art sporadically and on the spot. They want to have it hanging in there home the minute they come home, so its often a good idea to have your painting ready to hang with hardware installed and included when selling it. If you use high quality materials and paints, it is good to advertise that you do. If you are serious about building a professional art career, I highly suggest that you avoid E-bay. It will devalue your artwork and respect because it has a reputation as being a graveyard/flee market of art. Aim for local juried art shows. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tips on pricing... Most successful artists keep a steady price by measuring the square inches of the painting and times that by a determined price/profit based on detail. For example: .40 cents per square inch for less detailed paintings .50 cents per square inch for medium detail .60 cents per square inch for high detail A 16" x 20" of high detail = 320square inches x 0.60cents = $192.00 This formula can help you keep a steady price when it comes to different sizes. As a general rule, commissioned artwork is twice as much.

Eventually many people will make money from new industries that rise to replace old ones, just as has happened throughout history. For those who think money is behind this issue, why don't you ever look at the budgets of science researchers and compare those to the budgets of the world's most profitable corporations --- the oil companies? This is SUCH an irrational argument... Exxon would gladly pump millions into the coffers of any scientist who could prove that humans aren't causing climate change. Instead, they have to settle for paying lobbyists and funding their campaign to manufacture doubt.
2 :
I don't think that Al Gore's millions compare to the tens of billions that the oil industry reaps. Why are you not interested in where the funding for the denial machine comes from? _
3 :
The petroleum industry. It has mobilized the greatest number of scientifically illiterate numb-skulls in modern history to attack a specific area of scientific research. Money is a-political - and stupid is to the bone. The greatest hoax in human history has been the convincing of people that global warming is a hoax.

Many people are making money, not just Al Gore. Cap and Trade will become a huge industry. The Wall Street Bankers and Traders will make huge fortunes off of Cap and Trade. This will be another Enron for them where they made Billions in Commissions and fees, while the Enron scammers went to jail. With the Global Warming scam, the scammers probably will not even go to jail However the money that they Global Warming Scammers make will come directly out of all of our pockets and the rest of us will be much poorer.

Investment banks and traders and big oil and energy companies. They already makes hundreds of millions a year in selling carbon credits. Also, companies selling carbon offsets - these are largely fraudulent as this article from the Financial Times shows: http://blogs.ft.com/energy-source/2009/09/14/will-carbon-credit-scandals-soon-be-behind-us/ Also, this article from Reuters which quotes Interpol as saying that 90% of carbon offset trading is probably fraudulent: http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-44618420091210 There are literally billions to be made from carbon credits and offsets - why do you think all the big oil companies are in favour of it? Public spiritedness? Or are they all members of Friends of the Earth now?

You may recognise this guy Rajendra Pachauri, the UN's leading climate guru and Chief man made global warming alarmist, he is found to be personally involved in a great many organisations which stand to profit from the IPCC's recommendations No one in the world exercised more influence on the events leading up to the Copenhagen conference on global warming than Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and mastermind of its latest report in 2007. Although Dr Pachauri is often presented as a scientist (he was even once described by the BBC as “the world’s top climate scientistâ€), as a former railway engineer with a PhD in economics he has no qualifications in climate science at all. What has also almost entirely escaped attention, however, is how Dr Pachauri has established an astonishing worldwide portfolio of business interests with bodies which have been investing billions of dollars in organisations dependent on the IPCC’s policy recommendations. These outfits include banks, oil and energy companies and investment funds heavily involved in ‘carbon trading’ and ‘sustainable technologies’, which together make up the fastest-growing commodity market in the world, estimated soon to be worth trillions of dollars a year. How will the Three Gorges Dam make money?
How will the Three Gorges Dam make money?
I heard about the Three Gorges Dam in China being built on the Yangtze river, and people are saying that it will cost up to 100 billion dollard- but that it will pay for itself in the long run. How will this dam make that much money?

Hydroelectricity, I'm guessing. That's what made the Hoover Dam such a great feat of engineering, for sure.
2 :
The main economic benefit is certainly hydo-electric power generation. It has an installed capacity of 22.5GW from its 30 main generators, and is already generating an average of 100TWh of electricity per year. At that rate it will pay for itself in about 10 years or 1000TWh generated. Thats assuming the dam doesn't burst first and create possibly the greatest ever man-made disaster. The dam is some 185m high, holding back a reservoir lake some 600km long. Ironically, another intended main economic benefit of the dam is flood protection along the Yangtze River. If it fails, it could cause the worst flood ever, making the 1954 flood seem like a trickle. Other possible benefits are increased shipping capacity along the river, also relying on a ship lift still being built, improved irrigation systems (!) and income from tourism as a new "wonder of the world".
