How can China best improve the life of its rural farmers?
I perceive a need to distribute China's population farther from the east coast cities, yet the lure of a comfy life in Shanghai, et al. and/or the opportunity to make money in the cities appeals to many rural persons. Might there be a way to encourage a reverse migration? @Exco - Might a better transportation system to the west (Central Asia) be of some benefit? I'm thinking of something like an Atlanta-sized transport hub in the Uyghur region, flying cargo in and out from the EU, Africa, etc.

One solution - when the conditions of rural areas match those of urban areas the population will evenly distribute. But how can you encourage industries to set up further inland, where trade is far less efficient than near the coast or rivers? No matter what social reforms you bring about, you still can't change the geographical situation. Same goes for every other country in the world.

life as a rural farmer is already better than Shanghai: organic food free range chicken, duck, geese... no pollution in air living in nature free education til 9th grade no tax at all can have more than 1 kid not drenched with materialism, blind consumerism, divorce rate is low no temptation such as gambling, prostitution, so less likely to get aids, syphyllis... probably live longer life

Put a representative government in place of the private club that now runs the nation. Then you have people with equal voting power in the group that makes the decisions on what the nation needs. A rich power broker who only wants to make money and to wield international power will never be able to make sane decisions about anything to do with the rural life in China. Do you think a baker could give qualified information on how to build and power generator and where it would need to be? Look at what the nation of China has done in the past few years, not the people but the nation. The country that was here for thousands of years and will be only a poisoned mass of pollution if it continues going the way it is headed.

Pay them for what they do might help . But if you did that people would have to make more in the cities so the ccp would not go for that . I think get the ccp out are "the club" and get people who know what to do . It might help there whole country .
