What education and health conditions did the Chinese have before they immigrated to China in the 1800's?
And I'm talking about the conditions from around 1840's-1880's when many Chinese people immigrated to the US. I want to know what kind of education they received before immigrating (and in the US too when they immigrated); what kind of health conditions they had and if they had doctors or not (in the US after they immigrated as well); how much money did they make in China before they immigrated. Some sources would be good of where you found the answers.

Happy to answer your question . during that period between 1840's to 1880's , indeed many chinese immigrated to the US,and many of them were from guangdong province fujian province south-China ,most of are poor farmers who live a miserable life and most of them had never been educated, since the year 1840 is the time when the British invaded China and started the famous Opium war! it's the beginng of recent chinese history! Their lives were quite bad at that time, the foreigners told them that the US is a good place where they can earn food ,find things to eat and live with freedom, just because of this , many of them were immigrated to America , in other words , they were cheated by foreigners , as I have mentioned at the begining , most of them lived along the costal areas in south China, that's also the reason why nowdays most of the chinese-expatriates' roots were from south china ! unfortunately, when they immigrated to the US , what's waitting them were not gold and happiness! but hardwork and discrimination! they had doctors' in china , but different from the doctors we know , those days , they are traditional chinese doctories and treat others with the acient chinese medcine(herbs and other animals' organs, ect) , while ,when they immirated to America , no one care them , many of them died of tiring job, maybe u know that the famous Pacific railway acrossing the US from east to the west was built by these chinese with the sacrifices of thousands of them! hope my answer would be helpful for you!
