French is the largest second language in China.

LIAM.... Yea That is why you see all those signs in FRENCH! Last I looked (and that was 5 min ago) The signs are in Chinese and ENGLISH. China 's Second Language http://www.meridianmagazine.com/ideas/090325china2.html English has become the de facto second language of China . Most street signs in major cities and the directional signs on major highways are in both Chinese and English. This would be the equivalent of seeing all the signage along I-80 or the M-5 appear in English with Chinese subtitles.

only those who need to contact people from other countries are learning english. they learn for business, but, some might for knowing more things about the world. like answer all the silly questions on yahoo answers from all the countries.

Deviation from the true story of Communism, Chairman Mao will slaughter all of you Chinese today. We should work very hard for the Party, for the country, not for money. English is good only for spread word of Chairman Mao to English people, not use with Chinese people.

English is the closest thing the world currently has to an international language. English is commonly used in business, educational, and cultural settings on every continent. Learning a second language is a good thing that is never "over-rated". Since when is earning a living "over-rated"? Everything in the world costs money. Do you want a house to live in? That costs money. Do you want something to eat every day? That costs money. Do you want to go to college or send your kids there? That cost money. Do you want medical treatment? That costs money. The only people who make idle comments against honest work are losers and sponges (who live off of their parents, spouses, welfare, etc.)

Any and all knowledge is good for the person who puts forth the effort. As for making money, it should never be more important than the health of the children. But when you think about it money should not be more important than the health of the people or the land.
