$500 US is about 3500CNY. That leaves you 2500CNY to eat. So assuming you don't do anything but work, and you walk to and from work, that's about 80CNY per day for food. That's feasible, even if you eat out one meal a day. If you stay away from Western foodstuff, eat local vegetables and fruits, rice, noodles, tofu and soy, little or no meat and dairy products, cook at home and bring your lunch box, then you will be fine, and a little thinner in no time. We tend to eat too much anyways. Have you heard about the virtues of a restricted calorific diet? Not a bad deal afterall.

Do not fret about food; no need to be concerned cost.......great food; low price even in a nice restaurant....believe me!

you can eat seafood cheap as hell in china, while in america, they charge an arm & leg just for a lobster tail.
